We made a spur of the moment decision to renovate our backyard area. Of course when we decided to do this we thought it would be an amazing way to liven up our backyard area to make it more enticing to spend time out there. And neither of us thought that it would take more than a couple of weekends of work to get it all sorted.
Oh how wrong we were.... once we started we changed our minds from the original idea to the point that we now have a water feature that Mike and his dad have tiled and put together themselves. It looks amazing but we still have a huge amount of work to get done before it will look "livened up"
So I thought I would share a few quick and simple ways to liven up your outdoor / entertaining area with out having to do a full costly renovation.
Choose your colour palette - do you want a Hamptons vibe or a boho vibes the options are endless!
Add lights - Fairy lights have a way of turning any area into a magical entertaining area.
Add some statement greenery - this can be artificial or real, but make it a statement piece. Think large succulents, wall gardens, vines along a pergola etc
Cushions - if you have an outdoor setting add some fun cushions to it. Try adding different sizes and colours to brighten the area, be sure to stick to your colour palette/ vibe
Add a Fire Pitt - these are awesome and can be used all year round. Fire pits create such an amazing vibe when entertaining and you can find yourself sitting there with a drink for hours on end chatting with mates
The whole aim of livening up your outdoor area is to encourage you to use it, so be sure to do things that are practical for you. Maybe you have little kids and don't want a fire pit for safety no problems have you thought of a stand alone pizza oven. How much fun is that for the kids to make their own pizzas (with your help of course!)
With summer just around the corner I can not wait for our outdoor area to be done and you can bet I will be creating an amazing cozy vibe for us to congregate in over beers and pizza!
