So confession, I am not a born and bread Canberran, I grew up in Melbourne with endless possibilities for restaurants, exhibitions and adventures. So when I moved to Canberra I was instantly underwhelmed - where are the amazing restaurants, where is the city and what the hell can I do here other than see the war memorial (which is amazing by the way)

But after 2 years of living here I can finally share with you some of my favourite places to eat, visit and enjoy.

Food

  1. Kinn Thai - this place has the ability to transport you with vibrant flavours, a killer atmosphere and fast service http://kinnrestaurant.com.au/canberra/menu.php

  2. Ginseng (Hellenic Club Woden) - if you love Chinese food this place is for you! I highly highly recommend the dry chilli beef, it is possibly one of my favourite dishes in all of Canberra. https://www.hellenicclub.com.au/ginseng

  3. Italian & Sons - if wood fired pizza is screaming your name this is the place for you to be heading! https://italianandsons.com.au

  4. Ricardo's - for the ultimate breakfast and cakes http://ricardoscafe.com

  5. Grease Monkeys - Best burgers going around, and also an excellent spot to catch up for after work cocktails and happy hour. A favourite of mine has been the raspberry mojito. https://greasys.com.au

Visit

  1. National Arboretum - perfect place to go for a picnic and stroll. The Arboretum can take you from feeling like you are in the city, to feeling like you are in the middle of the forrest https://www.nationalarboretum.act.gov.au

  2. If you are here in march go check out the balloon festival - it is truly magical

  3. National Museum of Australia - I personally love museums and found the national stunning to walk around. It is also poised on the lake so makes for excellent views!

  4. War Memorial - if you haven't ever visited the War Memorial I highly recommend it. The curators are incredible and the last post each evening will give you chills. https://www.awm.gov.au/visit/visitor-information

  5. Lake Burley Griffin - for anyone that enjoys a lovely stroll around the lake, it is a great place to meet with friends for an early morning coffee and chat as you get in your steps for the day

Alright, so enjoy your pizza and cocktails!

Also, I would love to hear any suggestions you may have to add to this list
